Union County First Steps will host a community engagement event, "S'more Reading, Please!", on October 24, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Union Main Street Junction's Ornamental Park. This family-friendly outdoor event aims to promote literacy and kindergarten readiness by providing an inviting and accessible space for families to gather and engage in foundational literacy activities. A centerpiece of the evening will be a live read-aloud led by two local kindergarten teachers, while families enjoy s'mores and hot chocolate provided by a local coffee shop. As part of our commitment to kindergarten preparedness, readiness kits will be distributed to all rising four- and five-year-old children. Although this event is targeted at children aged 0 to 5, the entire community is invited to join us. Local vendors will be onsite with community resources.
